Science City brings more fresh expertise to Skellefteå

Skellefteå Science City has established partnerships with Enterprise Europe Network, Venture Cup and Connect Sverige

Skellefteå Science City has agreed partnerships with three new organizations.

Venture Cup, Sweden's leading competition for business ideas and startups, Enterprise Europe Network, which helps small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) make the most of business opportunities in the EU and beyond, and Connect Sverige, a nonprofit organization that matches entrepreneurs with skills and capital from the business community, will all have at least a part-time presence in Skellefteå's new innovation house, The Great Northern.

"We're a national competition for new businesses," Hillevi Lindelöf of Venture Cup explains. "It's open for everyone. Last year we had 1500 entrepreneurs competing in the Venture Cup. 12 teams from all corners of Sweden, including three from northern Sweden, reached the final."

"I'll be at The Great Northern in Skellefteå one day a month from February to advise and talk to people with new business ideas. We also hope to arrange workshops and inspiring speakers with the aid of Science City. And, most excitingly, we'll be having the regional final of Venture Cup in The Great Northern on May 18."

According to Anders Gothefors of Connect Sverige he hopes "to bring new opportunities to Skellefteå."

"Connect Sverige creates opportunities for innovation, entrepreneurship, growth capital and industry to meet, so that micro and early stage enterprises can gain the strength to grow and create new jobs."

"In northern Sweden we have business in all the northern counties and the best contacts and collaboration with other key partners such as incubators, ALMI Business Development, Young Enterprise and many more," Anders says.

Enterprise Europe Network offers information on EU legislation and EU funding, help in finding business partners in other countries, and assistance in participating in EU programs.

The organization will have a flex seat at The Great Northern as will Connect Sverige.
